Young Fast’s Advanced Capacitive Touch Panels Enter into Mass Production
Taoyuan Taiwan, November, 2007-- Young Fast Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. this month started volume production of its new capacitive touch panels – available in mid-2007. Initially, the capacitive panels will be made available mainly to China’s mobile phone applications, and soon extend to reach the international market.
“Projective type capacitive touch panels offer fast and sensitive touch response with excellent multi-touch navigation performance,” noted Albert Pai, general manager of Young Fast. “The technology has recently attracted great attention from the worldwide market, though, engineers are facing serious technological hurdles of minimizing impacts of noise interference and enhancing optical transparency.”
To address the problem, TPS solutions must incorporate high-speed sensitive controllers supplied by IC vendors. Young Fast has formed partnership with international and domestic touch panel controller vendors, aiming to develop even more reliable, durable, yet sensitive projective-capacitive panels catering for small- and medium-sized mobile applications.
Pai continued to state that capacitive and resistive panels share some common manufacturing processes and facilities. As a result, Young Fast is able to start volume production of projective type capacitive panels once it was available. In order to satisfy the ever increasing market demand, Young Fast is aggressively expanding its manufacturing facilities in Taiwan and China. In the meantime, the company has upgraded part of its infrastructure to foster the development of other high-performance and innovative models.
Spurred by successful implementation in Apple’s iPhones, projective type capacitive touch screens will raise mainstream interest and be extensively used in high-end mobile appliances in the coming years. Young Fast anticipates a new and steady revenue stream from the Chinese touch-based mobile phone market.
