Young Fast Launches Innovative Film-Film-PC Flat Touch Panels
Using the World’s First Panel-based Process
Taoyuan Taiwan, March, 2007--Young Fast Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., the global leader in touch panel technology, once again impressed both its customers and competitors by launching a new generation of flat-surface resistive touch panels. whole new flat-surface resistive product portfolio, named Touch Lens, uses the distinctive “panel-based” manufacturing process, first of its kind in the industry, to further enhance the quality and accuracy of touch displays.
A major breakthrough of the new panel is the “frameless” display. “With conventional touch panels, a fixture frame around the perimeter of the panel is required to hold the touch panel in place,” said Albert Pai, general manager at Young Fast. “By adopting the Panel-based process and PC (Polycarbonate) substrates, both developed by our experienced R&D team, we have successfully implemented the frameless new Touch Lens products.” Pai explained that such technology breakthroughs make Young Fast the technology leader of flat-surface touch screen panel (TPS) solutions.
Pai continued to say that the Film/Film/PC structure enables Young Fast to create unique flat surface mechanical designs, while a decoration film can be added on the top to prevent any scratches and damages on the display. “It helps mobile phone vendors to boost product images by adding decorative printing of company logos and product brands on the surface of the panel.”
Various cosmetic designs and mechanisms, such as rounded corners or spare holes reserving for audio and camera connectors, are also supported by using PC as the substrates – a sharp contrast from glass substrates that support only fixed form factor of square screens. Nevertheless, using PC substrates posts critical challenges to engineers compared to conventional touch panels, as it takes experience and advanced technologies to implement and improve flat surface finish and optical clarity.
